This unique program is comprehensive and uses pack drive in its approach. It includes everything from the initial evaluation to pre-training dogs before they can enter the social area. It starts by defining aggression, and it builds from there. Group socialization addresses the effect of layered stress on aggressive behavior, though the principles can be easily applied to other problem behaviors. The program includes components of counter-conditioning, desensitization, and perception modification. It recognizes the importance of obedience and corrections. Group socialization begins and ends on the principle that dogs are their own sovereign creatures. The entire system is rooted in a deep respect for the nature of dogs, an element that is often missing in modern dog training.
The class is an advanced socialization process that focuses on the dogs that are typically excluded from doggie day cares and other socialization classes. Because of this, our program offers an opportunity to help dogs that otherwise might not ever be able to run with other dogs.
In short, the group socialization program is the culmination of a wide array of techniques and concepts anchored by an essential philosophy of dogs which we call "Pack Drive". Left alone, dogs would have no problem with social order— it is part of their genetic makeup. But human intervention has messed up things that nature put in them. I have only seen perhaps 5 truly aggressive, dominant dogs in my 37 years of training. Most aggression is fear, and some of the negative energy comes from us. We must be willing to allow our canines to return to nature and run with the pack in a structured, controlled manner, to help alleviate the high anxiety and stress from being around other dogs. We must help bring them back from the dark side where fear, anxiety, and intimidation live, and reintroduce them to the joy of running with the pack.
We have groups organized for friendly, difficult, and aggressive dogs.
